SPECIFIC TO DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES
PRE-SCHOOL (2-3 years): The emphasis at the pre-school stage is to encourage personal responsibility and autonomy balanced with effective communication with peers. Our children can understand the consequences for choices they make. It's Discovery Day Care’s goal to communicate with them about these choices to prepare them for a structured classroom atmosphere. Activities for these eager little minds will be cuddling (or rolling around!), circle time, books and stories, arts and crafts, music and songs, imaginative play, educationally stimulating toys and puzzles, calendar, weather, science, and readiness skills.
PRE-K (3-5 years) The emphasis for the PRE-K Class is to have your child ready to attend Kindergarten. A strong focus on ABC's & 123's with Weekly Letter studies utilizing writing, Upper & Lower case letter recognition and Word recognition. Writing Names, Addresses, Birthdays, Numbers 0-10 and an Introduction to Addition and Subtraction. We work on mastering Fine Motor Skills with Multi-Faceted art projects and developing Math Skills with Music and Movement. Children are evaluated throughout the school year and progress is communicated through the use of Parent/Teacher Conferences and Daily written sheets.
